Insulation Bricks

Insulation Bricks are lightweight, highly porous refractory bricks engineered to minimize heat transfer through furnace walls, kiln structures, and industrial vessel linings. Their controlled, uniformly distributed pore structure traps air — nature’s most effective insulator — within a rigid, structurally stable matrix. Imperial World Trade supplies both hot face insulation bricks, capable of withstanding direct flame contact, and cold face backup bricks, designed to keep outer furnace shells at safe handling temperatures. Together, these two brick types form the foundation of an energy-efficient, multi-layer furnace lining system.

  • HFK Hot Face Bricks: High-alumina composition capable of direct flame exposure; service temperatures up to 1,600°C depending on grade.
  • Cold Face Backup Bricks: Ultra-lightweight bricks positioned behind the working lining to minimize outer shell temperature and heat loss.
  • Mica Insulation Bricks: Specialized grade for aluminium electrolysis cell linings and applications requiring electrical insulation properties.
  • Low Bulk Density: Typically 0.6 to 1.2 g/cm³, significantly reducing total furnace lining weight versus dense brick alternatives.
  • Low Thermal Conductivity: Dramatically reduces fuel consumption by retaining process heat within the furnace chamber.
  • Standard Dimensions: Available in ISO and customer-specified brick sizes for compatibility with existing furnace designs.

Imperial World Trade’s Insulation Bricks are tested for bulk density, cold crushing strength, and permanent linear change before dispatch, ensuring your energy efficiency targets are met from the very first firing cycle.
