Phenolic Resin Mortar
Phenolic Resin Mortar is a chemically setting, high-strength jointing compound based on thermosetting phenol-formaldehyde resin chemistry. It is the preferred mortar for environments involving oxidizing acids — particularly concentrated sulfuric and chromic acid — where furan resin systems may exhibit limited resistance. Additionally, phenolic mortars are widely specified in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, where non-toxic formulations, resistance to steam cleaning, and compatibility with organic acids are equally important as chemical resistance performance. Imperial World Trade supplies phenolic resin mortars for both heavy chemical and hygiene-critical lining applications.
- Oxidizing Acid Resistance: Outstanding performance in concentrated sulfuric acid, chromic acid, and mixed oxidizing acid environments where furan systems are unsuitable.
- Steam Resistance: Withstands periodic steam cleaning cycles without joint softening or bond degradation.
- Food-Grade Formulations: Non-toxic grades available for pharmaceutical, food processing, and beverage industry lining applications.
- High Compressive Strength: Dense, fully cured joint resists mechanical impact from process equipment and cleaning operations.
- Temperature Resistance: Suitable for continuous service up to approximately 150°C in most chemical environments.
- Alkali Limitation: Best specified for acidic environments; not recommended for continuous exposure to strong caustic alkalis.
Imperial World Trade supplies phenolic resin mortar with full chemical resistance tables covering the acid types, concentrations, and temperatures relevant to your specific process, enabling confident specification for even the most demanding lining projects.
