Ceramic Foam Filter

Ceramic Foam Filters are porous, open-cell refractory components placed in the gating system of metal casting moulds to remove non-metallic inclusions, slag particles, and oxide films from molten metal before it enters the mould cavity. By capturing these contaminants at the filter stage rather than allowing them to become embedded in the casting, ceramic foam filters directly improve the mechanical properties, surface finish, and pressure tightness of finished castings. Imperial World Trade supplies ceramic foam filters in alumina, silicon carbide, and zirconia compositions for iron, steel, and non-ferrous casting applications.

Category:
  • Alumina Grade: Standard filter for grey iron, ductile iron, and steel casting applications; excellent chemical stability in contact with ferrous melts.
  • Silicon Carbide (SiC) Grade: Superior thermal conductivity and shock resistance for high-volume grey iron and copper alloy casting operations.
  • Zirconia Grade: Ultra-high temperature resistance for steel casting applications where alumina filters may be chemically attacked by the melt.
  • Pore Size Range: Available in 10 to 30 PPI (pores per inch) grades to balance filtration efficiency against metal flow rate requirements.
  • Standard & Custom Sizes: Supplied in square, rectangular, and circular formats matched to standard gating system dimensions or custom-specified geometries.
  • High Filtration Efficiency: Three-dimensional open-cell structure captures inclusions through mechanical filtration, cake filtration, and chemical absorption simultaneously.

Imperial World Trade supplies ceramic foam filters with porosity grade, dimensions, and chemical composition certified for every batch, ensuring your foundry achieves consistent casting cleanliness and reduced rejection rates across every production run.
