Tundish Nozzle

The Tundish Nozzle is the very last exit point for the molten steel before it turns into a solid billet. You can think of it like a high-tech garden hose nozzle, but instead of water, it’s handling liquid fire at 1600°C. Its job is to make sure the steel flows in a perfectly straight, steady stream into the mold.

At Imperial World, we reinforce the inside of our nozzles with a super-tough material called Zirconia. Standard nozzles tend to “wash out” or get wider as the hot steel rushes through them, which messes up the flow. Our Zirconia-lined nozzles stay the exact same size from the first minute to the last. This consistency is the secret to making sure every inch of your steel billet has the same high quality.

Our nozzles are also designed to be “anti-clogging.” Sometimes, tiny particles can build up and block the flow, but our smooth ceramic finish keeps the steel sliding through easily. By providing a steady, non-splashing stream, Imperial World nozzles prevent air bubbles and surface cracks from forming in your steel. It is a small part that plays a massive role in ensuring your factory produces perfect steel every single day.
